Our Vision

Our sense of fulfilment comes from helping to support the future of Great British farmers.

To keep farming, and rural livelihoods, sustainable.

With this, we look forward to a future of green and prosperous lands. A landscape of flourishing livelihoods.

WE’VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A DECADE +

We are credited for our professional knowledge but respected for our farming routes. We’ve spent a lifetime in agriculture and over 20 years working in the professional sector. This is what makes our strategic and practical advice and support so sought after.

WE DO THE RIGHT THING IN THE RIGHT WAY

Before we do anything, we listen to the needs of our clients. We then work with the passion and determination echoed by our clients to navigate challenges, explore opportunities, and get results. Results that mean more highs, and less lows.

WE ARE PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL AND PROACTIVE

We are here to offer a professional service, but we’re also here to be a valued support partner to your business. We stand by every one of our clients now, but most importantly, for the long term.

Selby Rural - Tom Selby

Tom Selby MRICS FAAV

Founder & Rural Chartered Surveyor

Tom Selby founded Selby Rural with a mission to protect the future of Great British farmers and rural livelihoods. Tom started out with an ambition to make a difference. To enable farmers to change, evolve and grow, with confidence.

Today, Selby Rural is here to work alongside farmers and landowners not just today but for the long term, dedicated to the farming industry and agricultural sector.

Married to a local dairy farmer, Mary, and parent to two mini-farmers and an enthusiastic black Labrador, you can occasionally find Tom in the parlour milking their herd of pedigree Holstein cows.

Carys Studley - Selby Rural

Carys Studley MRICS FAAV

Rural Chartered Surveyor

A Rural Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer, Carys brings added experience to Selby Rural, having joined us in September 2024.

Rooted within the farming community, married to a local dairy farmer, Carys shares our values and has joined us looking to create strong and trusting relationships with our clients.

Carys has had experience in both the private practice sector and most recently estate management, where she continues to work on a part time basis.

Outside of work, Carys can be found at her happiest when with family and her three young children or playing her weekly (and quite competitive!) netball match!

Louise Allen

Farm Business Consultant

Louise joined the team in Autumn 2023. After graduating from Haper Adams in 2013 Louise has continued to work in the agricultural industry. Over the last 10 years Louise has developed her own dairy, beef, and sheep farm alongside her husband and two young children. During this period as an agricultural consultant, Louise developed her passion for supporting farm businesses.

Louise has joined Selby Rural to help farmers gain an understanding of what grants and subsidies are available to them and support them throughout the whole process of applying for the new farming incentives available.

Sharron Woodward

Secretary

Sharron joined the team as a secretary in Summer 2023 on a part-time basis. Sharron brings a wealth of administrative experience to Selby Rural, undertaking the day-to-day management of the office.

She has two children, both boys, belongs to a Molly dance team, a djembe drumming group, enjoys walking, cycling and swimming.

“My sense of fulfilment comes from helping to secure the future of great British farmers.”
