Dale Farming Farm Walk 17th April 2024 – A sold out farm walk!

Tom Selby organised the tour at Stockery Park Farm, courtesy of Ed and Barry Dale of Dale Farms. A total of 30 professionals attended the farm walk.

The morning started with pastries, teas and coffees; and networking, followed by a presentation by Barry and Ed explaining their family business.

A 3 generation family business, with 9 herds and over 40 Landlords. Ed and Barry explained the different agreements and structure of their businesses. The ethos is all about the right people and developing them all.

The group then had a tour around the farm looking at cows, youngstock and grass. This was followed by the families recent diversification project “The Little Cow Shed” for home produced milk shake.

The Cheshire Rural & Agricultural Professionals is a group of those providing services or products, mainly to the farming community such as; land agents, solicitors, accountants, feed reps, planners, book keepers or animal bedding to name a few.

Tom Selby who runs the group, started it to allow those in the industry to exchange knowledge and build long term relationships. If you are interested in attending future events, please contact Tom. tom@selbyrural.co.uk

Massey Feeds produces the UK’s first range of sustainable ruminant feeds with zero soya and palm kernel. The business is still family-owned operating over 3 mills. The business has its 6th generation now involved, producing 240,000 tonnes of animal feed per year.

The tour included a behind the scenes explanation of the raw materials coming into the mills from local farms to Liverpool docks, the various products (such as rolls, nuts, pellets, meal mix or crumbs) and how logistically it ends up on the right farm or in the right 25kg bag. The new bagging machine can fill and pallet up 10 tonnes per hour of 25 kg bags.

Massey feeds very kindly provided refreshments and a very insightful tour of the mill.
